1 Corinthians 11:17
Print
Now in this I declare unto you that I praise you not: that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
But in giving you this charge, I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better but for the worse.
But in giving this next instruction, I do not praise you, because when you meet together it is not for the better but for the worse.
But in what I instruct [you] next I do not commend [you], because when you meet together, it is not for the better but for the worse.
Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
Now in giving this instruction I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse.
Now I don’t praise you as I give the following instruction because when you meet together, it does more harm than good.
But in giving you this next instruction I do not praise you, because when you meet together it does more harm than good!
Your worship services do you more harm than good. I am certainly not going to praise you for this.
But [in] prescribing [to you on] this [which I now enter on], I do not praise, [namely,] that ye come together, not for the better, but for the worse.
But while commanding this, I do not praise— because you are coming-together not for the better, but for the worse.
Now this I ordain: not praising you, that you come together not for the better, but for the worse.
In the things I tell you now I don’t praise you. Your meetings hurt you more than they help you.
Now I must teach you about something else about your meetings. I will not praise you, because more bad things than good things happen when you meet together.
Now in giving you this next command, I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better but for the worse.
But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse.
But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse.
In the ·things [instructions; commands] I tell you now I do not praise you, because ·when you come together you [your meetings as a congregation] do more harm than good.
¶ Now in this that I declare, I praise you not, that ye come together, not with profit, but with hurt.
I have no praise for you as I instruct you in the following matter: When you gather, it results in more harm than good.
In the following instructions, however, I do not praise you, because your meetings for worship actually do more harm than good.
Now in giving the following instruction I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse.
In the things I tell you now I do not praise you. Your meetings hurt you more than they help you.
Now I am not praising you in giving you the following instructions. When you gather, it is not for the better but for the worse.
But in giving you the following rules, I cannot commend your conduct, for it seems that your church meetings do you more harm than good! For first, when you meet for worship I hear that you split up into small groups, and I think there must be truth in what I hear. For there must be cliques among you or your favourite leaders would not be so conspicuous. It follows, then, that when you are assembled in one place you do not eat the Lord’s supper. For everyone tries to grab his food before anyone else, with the result that one goes hungry and another has too much to drink! Haven’t you houses of your own to have your meals in, or are you making a convenience of the church of God and causing acute embarrassment to those who have no other home? Am I to commend this sort of conduct? Most certainly not!
¶ Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not: that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
Now in this that I declare unto you I praise you not, that ye come together not for the better, but for the worse.
But in giving this instruction, I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better but for the worse.
But in giving this instruction I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better but for the worse.
Next on my list of items to write you about is something else I cannot agree with. For it sounds as if more harm than good is done when you meet together for your communion services.
Regarding this next item, I’m not at all pleased. I am getting the picture that when you meet together it brings out your worst side instead of your best! First, I get this report on your divisiveness, competing with and criticizing each other. I’m reluctant to believe it, but there it is. The best that can be said for it is that the testing process will bring truth into the open and confirm it.
Now in what I have to say to you, I do not praise you. You have come together not for the better, but for the worse.
But in giving the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse.
I have no praise for you as I instruct you in the following matter: When you gather, it results in more harm than good.
In giving this instruction, I do not praise the fact that your meetings are doing more harm than good.
Now in giving this next instruction I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better, but for the worse.
But in giving this instruction, I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better but for the worse.
Now in giving you this instruction I cannot praise you, because your meetings tend to do more harm than good.
In the things I tell you now I do not praise you, because when you come together you do more harm than good.
Now in giving the following instruction I do not praise you, because you come together not for the better but for the worse.
In the following matters, I don’t praise you. Your meetings do more harm than good.
In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good.
In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good.
Now in giving these instructions I do not praise you, since you come together not for the better but for the worse.
While writing about these things, let me tell you what I think. Nothing good is coming from your meeting together.
But in the following instructions, I cannot praise you. For it sounds as if more harm than good is done when you meet together.
Now this I warn you of and do not commend: that you come together not for the better, but for the worse.
Now in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse.
Now in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse.
Now in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse.
Now in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse.
What I have to talk about now isn’t a matter for praise. When you meet together, you make things worse, not better!
But in giving the divrei Torah that follows I give no commendation [11:2], because when you assemble as the shul of Moshiach, it is not for the better that you assemble, but for the worse.
Now in this message I do not praise: that you come together, not for the better, but for the worse.
But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse.
But in the following instructions I do not commend you, because when you come together it is not for the better but for the worse.
But in giving you this instruction I do not praise you, for when you meet together it does more harm than good.
On this next matter, I wish I could applaud you; but I can’t because your gatherings have become counterproductive, making things worse for the community rather than better.
But in giving you this command, I don’t praise you, that you come together not for the better but for the worse.
In the next thing I have to talk about, I cannot say that you are doing well. Your meeting together is more bad than good.
But this thing I command, not praising, that ye come together not into the better, but into the worse.
And this declaring, I give no praise, because not for the better, but for the worse ye come together;
